  • Minutes of September 2016 meeting approved. (Motion: Forrest/ Second: Robert)

Neil: The 2016-2017 SSOB Board Members were introduced.

Neil: Annual SSOB Memberships are due. Memberships run from October to October. There was a discussion regarding raising membership fees from $24 single/$36 couple to $30 single/$45 couples, and no pro-rated fees. Members want a discussion about why rates should increase and what the current SSOB budget is. Clarification is needed on what defines a “couple” membership: is it two brewers that brew together; household members; etc. Voting on raising fees will be pushed to the November 2016 meeting.

BEER: Cream Ale by Robert.

Neil: Budget details could not be discussed due to the absence of the Treasurer. Money was raised at the Redding Antique Mall Fundraiser and Scott W was thanked for the opportunity. Club spent money on Northern CA Homebrewers Festival and club taxes.

Neil: Past events that SSOB participated in were NCHF and Redding Wine and Beer Fest.

All event sign-ups will be posted on the private SSOB Facebook page.

Neil: Upcoming events are as follows:

  • November 5: Learn to Homebrew Day (sponsored event by American Homebrewers Association). Event is 10:00a to 5:00p at NCBS, rain or shine. It is similar to Big Brew Day with demonstrations and tastings. Sign-up for positions; brewers get 25% to brew for the event. Contact: Adam.
  • October 21: Third Friday event to be held at the Rocktober event at 5:00p in Library Park between Placer and Yuba Streets behind Deja Vu on California St, Downtown Redding. Contact: Joey.

Robert: SSOB has a new Facebook page for the SSOB Board. Board meeting minutes will be posted there, and the updated Board list.

Neil: Due to Victor was not present to discuss Cellarmaster business, Neil mentioned, on his behalf, having volunteer servers to assist the Cellarmaster at meetings. Additionally, members bringing beers for sampling should have information ready to present regarding their beers and be prepared to answer questions.

Joey: Third Friday is a social event midway between monthly meetings and is open to the public. The month of October is Rocktober, a downtown Redding event, and the next Third Friday will be there. Third Friday events are generally 6:00p-8:00p, but October will be 5:00p-7:00p. Cornhole and draft soda will be provided by Final Draft.

Joey: Plans to have educational seminars over the year. Every meeting will attempt to have a new technique or tip presented. Victor could promote a select beer style.

Adam: Would like to do a club brew day each month, similar to the first Saturday brew day hosted by NCBS.
