Third Friday: October. This month’s social has yet to be determined. Please visit Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/groups/SSOBpublic/ for updates.

Christina’s First BIAB Brew. This event is hosted by the Flores’ on Saturday, October 7 at 10:00am. Christina P. is making the jump from extract brewing to all-grain brewing and members are invited to celebrate this evolution in her brewing technique. Bring a snack and beer to share. Visit https://goo.gl/oN53fH or talk to Joey and Elissa Flores for more information.

Bowling for Booze. This event will be on Saturday, October 21 at 5:30pm at Country Bowl on Bechelli Lane in Redding. It’ll be a fun night of bowling with fellow SSOBs. Liquid beverage prizes for best and worst bowlers etc. Visit https://goo.gl/mCN1TN or talk to Tina H. for more information.

AHA Learn To Homebrew Day. Learn to Homebrew Day (LTHD) was established by the American Homebrewers Association (AHA) in 1999 to encourage homebrewers to introduce their non-brewer friends and family to the most rewarding hobby, obsession and lifestyle since the beginning of time! Visit https://goo.gl/TyUUdB for more information on the national event.

Through beer making, demonstrations, tastings and other educational efforts, LTHD events around the world are spreading the joy of homebrewing far and wide. This year’s event is Saturday, November 4, 2017, so check with the club if you’re interested in participating.

Facebook Group: Join and Like! – We have three facebook groups connected with our club, two are members only (closed members and Board), and one is public. It is one of the best ways to keep up with what is happening with the club and individual club members and their shenanigans. We also want to publish pictures of our group and individual brewing and fun activities, so if you have any, please share!

Tasting Glasses and T-Shirts – Tasting glasses are available for purchase for $4 from the club. Remember, a tasting glass is complimentary for a new membership!

If you are interested in a new t-shirt from the latest batch, they are available at club meetings for $20 each.

Webmaster News –If you have some news or want to write up and article, please contact Robert at brewmasterrob67@gmail.com.

He is also continuing his “Brewer’s Spotlight” series. If you want to participate, let him know and he can email you a questionnaire. If you are a current SSOB member, please join our (closed) Facebook group to find out some of the latest fun and see the pictures!

Cellar Master News – Be sure to notify the Cellar Master, Daniel, at the start of the club meeting if you have some homebrew samples to share with the club. And please, bring those homebrew samples to share! Consider if you would like a critical tasting of your brew, with BJCP sheets, and if so, let the Cellar Master know. Be prepared to talk about your beer and details on your process or recipe.

Don’t Forget 3rd Friday! – Here’s how it works:

-On the 3rd Friday of each month we choose a local business that serves beer to be our host for an informal gathering.

-It will be a purely social event, centered around getting to know your fellow club members better.

-All club members are welcome to join AND encouraged to bring significant others and/or friends that like beer and would be interested in meeting some of our club members.

Feel free to send this invite to all of your cool craft beer loving friends on Facebook too!

Check the club calendar at http://www.shastasob.org/calendar/ for details as it gets closer.
